He is better described by his peers as an individual with an extra-ordinary brain power, a “visionary, and seasoned business re-engineering & tactical strategist”. Since his arrival, NTB been on a high-performance trajectory and Namibia has received various recognition Awards as the Best in Travel 2026 by the Lonely Planet (USA), Best Tourism Adventure Destination in Africa (UK), a “Destination of effective Publicity for Culture and Tourism 2025” Award in China in 2025 and Institute of People Management (IPM) (Namibia) has conferred upon him an individual honour, as the IPM CEO of the Year Award, 2025. Within just fifteen (15) months of his leadership, the Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) has recorded significant impact both locally and on the international stage. At the margins of Africa’s Travel Indaba 2026, the formal launch of the joint marketing partnership between Cape Town, Zimbabwe, and Namibia was successfully cemented through a series of high-level ministerial engagements. The message from the podium was unified and compelling: the era of cross-border competition is being replaced by a collaborative, “team sport” approach aimed at capturing a greater share of the global travel market. This landmark partnership, which brings together the urban sophistication of Cape Town, the iconic Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, and Namibia’s distinctive desert landscapes, including the Skeleton Coast, positions the region as a seamless multi-destination offering for long-haul international travellers. It represents a strategic shift towards integrated tourism development and regional value creation. Further underscoring this progress was the announcement of the Namibia Luxury Travel Market, a significant initiative reflecting the CEO’s strategic foresight and commitment to product diversification. This development highlights Mr. Chicalu’s passion for the tourism industry and his extensive experience in advancing Namibia’s positioning within the high-value global tourism segment.
