Speaker Profile: Dr Francis Mugizi

^{_{I am a Senior Lecturer and researcher in the Department of Tourism, Makerere University. I am a tourism professional who has for the last 20 years been engaged in various assignments as a consultant, researcher, trainer, academic and educator in the various areas of tourism and hospitality, environment and conservation. I am a hardworking, team player, focused and passionate about engaging in professionally tasks that positively impact destinations. My research interest covers sustainable tourism planning and development with focus on community-based tourism in Uganda’s protected areas, destination management and community-based tourism enterprises. I have undertaken research and supervised graduate and undergraduate students in various aspects of tourism. My research has diversified to encompass assessment of tourism and hospitality human resource capacity gaps and crisis management. I have contributed to knowledge generation through published articles on tourism in international journals and has reviewed abstracts and articles for conference proceedings in tourism.}}
