Speaker Profile: Prof Douglas Kunda

Professor Douglas Kunda is a distinguished Zambian academic, researcher, and university leader with extensive experience in higher education management, software engineering, and digital transformation. He currently serves as Vice Chancellor of Unicaf University, following his tenure as Vice Chancellor of DMI St. Eugene University and ZCAS University, where he led strategic growth, strengthened institutional governance, expanded academic programmes, and enhanced research and innovation capacity. He previously held senior leadership roles at Mulungushi University, including Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor, Founding Dean of the School of Science, Engineering and Technology, Director of the Centre for ICT Education, and Associate Professor of ICT. Professor Kunda holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of York, United Kingdom. His expertise spans software engineering, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data mining, information systems, mobile and web applications, ICT governance, and digital policy. He has published more than 100 scholarly works with Google h-index of 20, supervised numerous postgraduate students at master’s and doctoral levels, and contributed significantly to research in emerging technologies and applied digital solutions. Beyond academia, he has successfully mobilized research and institutional funding, facilitated strategic partnerships with universities, industry, and government, and served on national committees and boards, including the Bank of Zambia. He has made presentation on Artificial intelligence and digital transformation at various conference in Zambia and abroad. His career reflects a sustained commitment to academic excellence, innovation, mentorship, and national development through education and technology.
